What is stayupdatedwith.ai?
stayupdatedwith.ai is an AI-powered voice tutoring platform that allows you to learn any subject through real-time voice conversations with personalized AI companions. Instead of watching pre-recorded videos or reading static content, you engage in natural, interactive dialogue with AI tutors that adapt to your learning pace and style. Our platform covers over 20 subjects including Mathematics, Science, Language, Coding, History, Economics, and more.
How does AI voice tutoring work?
When you start a session, our platform connects you with an AI companion through a live voice call. You speak naturally, ask questions, discuss topics, and receive real-time responses — just like talking to a human tutor. Behind the scenes, we use advanced speech-to-text technology (Deepgram) to transcribe your speech, a large language model (GPT-4) to generate intelligent tutoring responses, and text-to-speech synthesis (ElevenLabs) to deliver natural-sounding voice output. The entire conversation happens in real-time with minimal latency.
What subjects are available?
We currently support tutoring across a wide range of subjects including Mathematics, Science (Physics, Chemistry, Biology), Computer Science and Coding, Language Learning, History, Economics, Philosophy, and more. You can also create custom AI companions for virtually any topic — from quantum mechanics to creative writing — by specifying the subject, topic, teaching style, and voice when building your companion.
Can I create my own AI tutor?
Yes! Our Companion Builder lets you design a custom AI tutor tailored to your specific needs. You choose the subject, focus topic, teaching style (Socratic or Coach), voice profile, and session duration. Your custom companion is saved to your account and can be used for future sessions. The number of companions you can create depends on your subscription plan.
Do I need to install anything?
No installation is required. stayupdatedwith.ai runs entirely in your web browser. Simply visit the website, sign in, and start a voice session. The platform works on desktop computers, laptops, tablets, and smartphones. You only need a working microphone and internet connection.
Is there a mobile app?
Currently, stayupdatedwith.ai is a web-based platform optimized for all screen sizes. The responsive design ensures a smooth experience on mobile devices through your browser. A dedicated mobile app may be released in the future.

Credits & Plans

How does the credit system work?
Our platform uses a credit-based system where 1 credit equals approximately 1 minute of voice tutoring. Credits are consumed in real-time during active voice sessions. When you start a session, credits are deducted every 30 seconds based on your actual usage. If you run out of credits during a session, the session will automatically end. Unused credits from your monthly plan do not roll over to the next billing cycle.
What subscription plans are available?
We offer four plans: Free (10 credits/month, limited companion creation), Starter (50 credits/month, more companions), Pro (150 credits/month, premium features), and Enterprise (custom credits and features for teams and institutions). All plans include the ability to earn bonus credits by watching short advertisements.
Can I earn free credits?
Yes! You can earn additional credits by watching short advertisements through our Ad Rewards system. Each ad watched earns you 1 credit, with a daily cap of 30 ads. Ad-earned credits expire after 7 days. This feature is available on all plans, including the Free tier.
How do I upgrade or change my plan?
You can manage your subscription from the Plans page. Click on the plan you want and follow the checkout process. If you are upgrading, you will receive the additional credits immediately. If switching to a lower plan, the change takes effect at the start of your next billing cycle. All billing is handled securely through Clerk.

Voice Sessions

How do I start a voice session?
Navigate to the Companion Library, find a tutor you want to learn from, and click 'Start Lesson.' On the session page, click 'Start Session' to begin the voice call. Make sure your browser has microphone permission enabled. You will see a credit counter showing your remaining and used credits during the session.
Can I mute my microphone during a session?
Yes. During an active session, you can toggle your microphone on or off using the mic button on the right panel. When muted, the AI companion will not hear you but may continue speaking if it was in the middle of a response.
What are closed captions (CC)?
The CC feature displays a real-time text transcript of the conversation during your voice session. When CC is enabled, you can see what both you and the AI companion are saying as chat bubbles. You can toggle CC on or off using the CC button next to the microphone button. This is helpful for reviewing what was said or for learning in noisy environments.
What happens if I lose internet during a session?
If your internet connection drops, the voice session will be interrupted. The session will attempt to reconnect, but if the connection cannot be re-established, the session will end. Credits are only deducted for the time you were actively connected.

Privacy & Security

Is my voice data stored?
We do not permanently store raw audio recordings of your tutoring sessions. Voice data is processed in real-time by our voice AI provider (Vapi) for the purpose of transcription and AI response generation. Session transcripts may be temporarily stored for quality assurance and to display your session history, but raw audio is not retained.
How is my data protected?
We take data security seriously. All data transmission is encrypted using SSL/TLS. Our database uses row-level security policies to ensure users can only access their own data. Authentication is handled by Clerk, a trusted identity provider. We follow industry best practices for data protection and regularly review our security measures.
Can I delete my account and data?
Yes. You can request deletion of your account and all associated data by contacting us at stayupdatedwithai@gmail.com. Upon account deletion, all your session history, bookmarks, companion data, and credit balance will be permanently removed.
